Night Has Come
October 5, 2016
The night has comeand all the lightfrom the sky is gone. Only the feeble light from the windows touches the ground and vanishes quickly into the inky void. Mother has gone to bed and I am still too awake to make my move toward sleep. Sounds from the dishwasher make a strange counterpoint to the landscape beyond the windows. It was a busy day and one without much resolution as it seemed things appeared at my fingertips but could never get them into my hand. A couple of hours on hold and talking with government offices never took care of the problems and now I will most likely go and sit and wait to try to resolve the issues with a face to face visit. Mother had a good day and spent it with a person she likes who gives me a break each week. The hours off help me and I think it is good for Mother to spend time with someone other than me who she sees day in and out. She is sleeping better these last few weeks and that is helping me as well. I never know how long these patterns will last but I will enjoy them as long as they do.
Our furry visitors are still with us and seem to be happy to roam and run in the garden and hide in the wood pile. It is pleasant to have the amusement of kittens again and to pet and listen to the deep purrs of the larger cats. I have yet to decide what to do. So I keep them supplied with food and enjoy their presence.
This week frames go on paintings as the first three go off to a museum show. I am happy to see them go out the door and be exhibited. I am looking forward to the feedback about the new work. I have gone back into a painting I call the Navigator and it is looking much better. I have not shown it yet and am glad as the changes strengthen the image and power of the work. The tree paintings are going well and should soon come together. Panels are leaning up against the wall as they wait for sketches to be applied and then painted. With the reduced time to paint I am trying to justify the time that such large works will take. I will know when their time is right when I begin to paint on them. That is always how it is. When I can’t not paint I know I am ready to work on them.
Hope you are hearing the inner voice of what you should do and when. That you will not be rushed into things before you are ready to deal with them. That you will not be able to resist doing what your heart tells you to do and you will have a passion to do your best and take joy in the completion of what you create. That you will share with others your work and rejoice with them in what they produce. To be as glad in the victories of others as you are with your own.
