Javelins From the Heavens
January 19, 2016
Javelinsof sunhit theyardthrough crevices in the clouds, creating pools of brilliant yellow light setting the new verdant grass ablaze; then clouds move and the light is gone. Morning has come and after cleaning up from the night we sit in our usual places as Mother keeps herself blanketed in the heat from the stove, drinking her second cup of coffee, talking to some imaginary friend and I sit across from her looking out the window while planning the day and making lists. Breakfast is done and the dishes dry while the sound of the washer and dryer try to drown out the music. Classical music versus the mechanical sound of chores being done. The night was not shattered by Mother many times but I found things this morning; and, so, a balance of sorts between sleep and chores was struck and dealt with. Rain has been our constant companion and looks to be with us for the next week as well. The summer sun dances in commercials trying to lure us to some distant shore, inviting but not practical at this time.
Fish overflow from the art area as they begin to stack up on one another. Their glowing bodies sparkle with color as patterns march across their surfaces. We are in the final sprint to get them all done and ready to ship out. I had a call for some from a gallery and will start sending them out this week. The easel has a painting on it and waits for me to finish it up. The metallic surface reflects the light, and golden orange fish swim beneath lily pads and stocks of dark reeds on a surface of reflective water. I will gesso this afternoon if weather permits and have panels ready to start later in the week. By then the fish will be drying and ready to coat with a varnish to seal them for their new life.
Mother is staring out the window as she wakes and is a bit restless so we will get ready and take our morning drive. She creates stories as we go of people walking and playing and children’s faces seen from the empty road. If the real world can’t make her happy her imaginary one seems to.
I hope you will find your world full of all that builds you up and brings joy. That peace will be found even when things are erratic and problems surface in your life. That you will have fulfillment in helping others without feeling pity for yourself. That love will sing sweet songs in your heart in everything you do.
