Without a Hint
September 27, 2016
Without a hint of light in the sky, the day has started and now the faint glow has infused the sky. Trees and vegetation emerge from under the blanket of night and the first rays of sun gild the higher reaches. Mother rests in her chair after breakfast and watches out the window for some interesting sight of passing animals or birds. She had some restless patches in her night but now seems content to sip coffee and make comments about what she sees. Days have been warm and carried with them the breath of summer. Leaves continue to sail from trees on their way to earth, arrayed in bright colors. I am joining Mother for coffee while waiting for the return call from a government agency and resolving yet another thing I though was already resolved. At least I do not have to listen to bad music while I wait.
I have been having a great time working on new works in the studio area. There has been an impatient period while I am waiting for paint to dry. Today, it looks like several paintings are ready for another coat of paint. Images have been made real as they fill the panels and I am excited to see them develop further. Trees dance under clouds and water sparkles behind them. Rocks emerge from the water and dry in the sun. Hues dance on the top of water like some thrilling ballet. Ideas for works dealing with the changes Mother is going through are coming to the front of my mind and are beginning to form. I am not sure where they will lead but I am sure it is important for me to go there. Part of me wants to avoid them and yet I am drawn to make real what floats in my heart.
A band of cats has visited us these last few days. First, it was one wanderer who stopped off for a bit of rest and food. Then it was two others, who by their markings were from the same litter. Last night one of the three brought four kittens onto the deck. They are in good shape and I guess that means they are good hunters. I will see it they travel on or if we have inherited a family. I am not sure I am ready for more to deal with, but maybe no one is really ready and we just deal with what comes our way. They are pretty and the kittens are cute and they purr well, too. It is always a danger for me as I am hopelessly drawn to such sweet encounters.
Hope you are finding life filled with experiences that may not be what you want and are what you can deal with and receive a blessing you were not expecting. That you can help those who are going through a transition just like you have been helped by others. That you can rejoice in the wonder of life and will see the same wonder in the people you meet. That you will find your life made fuller and richer by your efforts to meet the needs of others.
