Mistscircletrees and dance through the garden plants wrapping their garlands of cool purple grey around everything. The sun has fled as the temperatures soar inland and the blanket of moist air is pulled over the landscape, cloaking the land with a silent mantle. Just a few miles away, in town, the streets are washed in golden light. We have returned from a physical therapy session for Mother to help her gain more control and use of her walker. She is a bit frustrated by it but does keep trying in her own odd way as she tries to make sense of what she hears and what she thinks. It does not look like there can be much help due to her illness. Now, with her coffee and gazing out the window she settles down some and listens to the music. The smells of soup cooking on the stove make the warmth seem warmer and more inviting. The other house sounds are making their presence known, the bang of the dryer and the refrigerator play off the sounds of cars passing on the road and the cries of birds.
I have started a 3’ X 4’ painting of rocks and water that changes hue from warm yellow golds into oranges and rusts, then to red and purple. Today I will put in the area of shadow and blend them into a pattern that brings order to a very active surface. At least I hope I will. The painting of the trees at night is going very well; the reflections from the moon cast a mysterious glow on the images and are very pleasing. I have sketches for a large, three panel piece of trees with rocks and dappled light. It will be very restful if I can pull it off. The abstract I have been working on of oranges is getting better each day. It seems that it vibrates with more energy and color. I am very happy to operate in a world of my creation that lets me form things as I feel them rather than from a place that dictates how they should be. There is something wonderful to make things as you want them to be and to have others enjoy them.
Hope you are finding the peace of the rhythm of life and it brings you peace as you see the days go by. That even as the first few leaves float to the ground you will enjoy the days of summer and think how blessed you are. That you will find joy in the sounds that reach your ears and in the faces of those you meet. That you will find the companions of your journey enriching. That you will have contentment in all the paths you take.
