Cascade of Sunshine

Goldenlightdrenches thetopsof the treesas they slowly wave in the morning breeze like dancers preparing for the first act of the play. The shadows seem firmly embedded in the maze of trunks and large plants that camp on the hillside. The smell of berries from the mounds of vines still linger in the air. As the sun blasts heat into their huts of green the fragrance of blackberries overpowers everything and no one can resist gathering handfuls to eat. It is a lush time of summer delights and easy living. The golden rust colors are appearing on the higher hills but here the emerald greens still hold sway. Things seem to be moving slower as well. The buck has been munching on the grass at the end of the house and seems in no hurry to move on. Mother is slow, too, as she moves back and forth in her chair. Her coffee cools by her side on the table and soon I will refresh it. This morning she is a bit confused about what she is seeing and understanding. Yesterday she enjoyed her visit with the folks at church and a lunch out. Today those memories are gone and she wonders what will go on in her world. I have been working with her on some exercises to get her body strengthened and even the most simple ones confuse her and the next time we have to start from scratch for her to do them. And we keep doing them so she has better balance and general health.
Paintings flash colors in the strong light coming in from the skylights and this past week slowly came close to being done. The metallic pond piece came back from being turned to the wall to have some additions to it and now seems much stronger and handsome. The abstract of the oranges are gaining an air of mystery that is more instructing. The seascape flashes and dances in the light and each addition of paint seems to grow more beautiful. I had hoped to start another work but the time just evaporated in the everyday tasks and I hope to work on some at the end of the week. Car, dental and doctor visits have been put off but have to be handled this week so time to work on the art will be at a premium. The needs of life impact the needs of the art.
Hope you are finding time to balance the things that you need to do so that the whole person is taken care of. Don’t forget to feed the soul as well. That you will make the time to share with others and give them the blessing of who you are as they share with you. That you will savor the taste of sweet berries and hum of bees and beauty of the summer. That you will feel the warmth of sun and it will form a pleasant memory for the cold of winter. That you will be happy with what you have and will share it willingly with others.
