The sunsquintsthroughthesoftcomforter of dark cloudspeering at the world still in slumber beneath a windless sky. The stillness is in sharp contrast to the winds that raced through the area yesterday bringing down leaves and hinting at the fall to come. Unlike the outside, the house is abuzz with the sounds of wash, music and the occasional snores as the house gets ready for the week ahead. Early rising is putting it mildly as our day began. Sleep fled from Mother and she would not go back to bed so we arose to start the day. However, that has not kept her from the clutches of sleep. Mother had a good night for the most part till the early hours of the morning then it was up and down. This pattern seems to happen more often and I can feel the effects more each day. There are flares of irritation now, not regular just happening more often. For the most part she is still sweet and willing to go along with things. I worry for her more as she seems cast off more from the bonds that hold us together. There is nothing I can do but hold her and tell her I love her and wait till the episode passes.
Painting helps me focus and relax and put the day in perspective.
New works continue to engage me with their colors and forms. I find myself lost in the world within the world that opens so quickly. Oranges flicker against dark greens and blues as yellows soar over the surface. The new interdiction of pinks, reds and pale blue greens have added an iridescent sheen to the surface of the water. The pond has come almost alive with a transparent blanket of hues floating over it. The seascape reflects a silver sheen that plays off the solid hills and rocks as waves crash against the shore. The more I work on it the more it speaks to me and I find a pleasant place to pause and think.
The sun broke through and now what was so lazy and quiet is animated and busy. The light flooding the room has awoken the sleeping and now I can see her staring waiting for her ride and escape from the house.
Hope you are finding places of escape from the things going on in your life and that these pauses reenergize you. That the beauty around you does not escape your notice. That you will feed your heart on the beauty and your mind on joy. That the warm sun fills the areas that are in pain and heals them with its brilliance. That you will rejoice for what you have and not worry about the future. That you will keep strong in who you are and helping others.
