Moving from dark shadowsinto theglowofmorningthe trees and garden awake while foxgloves and daisies await the bees and hummingbirds. Mother had a fairly good night and now sits dozing off and on as her coffee cools beside her. Yesterday was not as good as the night was but things got cleaned up and are back to this always changing normal. Yesterday the sights and sounds of the beach held her attention as she watched children and parents escaping the heat inland and cooling off on the coast. Bright colors were set off by the blue green sea and warm golds and browns of the beach. We continue our eating by small mouth bites and having to feed most of the time now. She has lost reason for the spoon and fork and so eating is more of split function. Give her a bite and while she eats I get a bite for me. Neither of us will starve and it makes eating a longer but fine process.
I have panels ready to start putting the first coats of paint on. I am starting with a seascape of the headlands west of us with the light turning the sea gold. A second panel is ready with another seascape playing off the changes of light on water and how some areas seem matte while others are sparkling. If I can pull it off it should be very handsome. I am starting a pond piece that explores more fragments of light and is more complex with fish and leaves. I have been working while getting the painting area ready for a client who will be here this week to talk about a commission for his house. I am looking forward to working on a project with his requirements. Seems the art market is picking up and I am getting more requests from the galleries and shows. A nice and exciting time.
I have been working in the yard as I can. Weeds are growing and so are the trees and plants. It is a bit hard planning time when Mother can watch or nap while I am outside. The results look good and the smell of freshly cut grass is wonderful.
Hope you are doing well and having a time of sweet smells and pretty sights. That you are feeling the warm air and sun on your skin and celebrating the summer with all of its vistas and promise of lazy days and flowers. That you are making time for others and sharing each day with someone you love and care for.
