Showers and Ripples
May 24, 2016
Showerssendripplesracingacross the fishpond catching the light in bright circles. The orange cat sits under a plant and watches the world around it emerge from the shadows. Weeds seem to be shooting up from the dampened ground and try to cover each open area still left unfilled. Mother dozes in the chair as birds fly beyond the window and nature begins its day cycle. Mother slept better the last few nights and seems to sleep more durning the day as well. She has healed from the falls she had and now gets around better and complains of pain much less. I have noticed how much more she spends in her mind seeing pleasant things and carrying on conversations with objects around her.
The yard is signaling that it is time to get out and do some work. Looks like the week will include some mowing and trimming. It seems I just did it a short time ago but it needs it again. I have to get up and clean some skylights, too. The pollen from the trees has coated them and now they need washing. Bright white flowers fill spots in the yard and foxgloves wave in the breeze in a quilt of life.
The art is both a joy and a fight. The large painting of the light and refections on a pond now has red maple leaves floating on its lower portions. The contrast between the soft refections and the harder edged leaves sets up a tension that energizes the work. The balance between the known and unknown creates a mystery that is provocative and holds the viewer’s attention. The blooming trees is still unresolved. Patterns of blossoms dance in the blue sky and are beginning to sing as well. The last of the fish are lined up waiting to be stored for the next phase of going to galleries. Some have already left and others are waiting their turn. The green hillside with trees is done and awaiting drying so it can be shipped out. The gallery was by last week and has a place for it so it to will soon be gone.
Hope you are finding your days filled with the beauty of life and the songs of birds. That you are taking the time to see what is growing around you both in your life and the world. That you will not forget to cherish the warmth of the sun and coolness of the wind and sweetness of those you love and care for. That you will find more to praise than condemn. That fragrance of flowers and blooms of every kind will fill you with peace and joy.
