Beginning in the Morning
April 12, 2016
Morningbeganasthe sun keptitseyehidden behind a pearl grey sky and the velvet light settled on the world beyond the window. Mother took her time rising this morning and even now slides between dozing and waking. She seems to spend more time in this in-between state as the weeks pass. Sometimes, even during meals, she will fade in and out and forgets what she is doing or how to do it. Her conversations with the wall this morning are pleasant and full of complements on how well dressed and beautiful it is. She smiles and seems genuine in her joy at seeing whatever it is she sees. Though sometimes the lights in the dining room make fun of her, but I assure her they are just teasing her and that seems enough to make her smile. She still wants to wear her clothes to bed and is afraid she will freeze if she does not. I find her sometimes with the covers off, sleeping just fine, and she is warm so I guess all the blankets and warm nightgowns are doing their job. She seems most awake in the car for a while then even then sleep settles upon her.
I have a new 4’ X 4’ painting I am starting and am excited to see how it works out. It is a pond of reflections with blood red leaves floating on the surface of the water, but, at times, the viewer is shaken to find that there is no way of knowing if the view is from under the water or on top of the surface. I have always enjoyed changing the views so there is no way of orienting where things are in relation to each other. Like making the viewer sort out what is there and how it works together. The other paintings are doing great and each day there is less and less to do as they get closer to completion. I am working on a small seascape that is set in the deep of night with only the light of the moon and stars to illuminate it. The blues and indigos dance in the darkness and make the view even more exciting. The living room where I am painting has worked well for me. Space is a bit of a premium but I have room to work on larger work as I watch deer graze outside the window or the neighborhood cat walk by. The goldfish continue to dance among the newly opened lily pads. All in all, things on the place go well.
Hope that for you the days are good and sweet and you are traveling in places that feed your soul. That you have found all you need to meet your requirements and an abundance of joy and peace. That you have found others to confide in and share your journey with. That the days are filled with blessing that bring bright smiles to your face.
