Rain taps ontheskylights as the light appears, slowly changing the landscape from darkness to the soft hues of light falling on the garden. The small herd of deer has yet to make their pilgrimage to eat the sweet grass coated with drops of crystal. The fish in the pond continue their sleep in the depths of the pool. Mother sits in her chair sipping coffee and trying to make sense of what she sees. Her sleep was disjointed and she was up several times thinking she had to do some task. Each time she showed relief that she could get back into bed and sleep more. Finally, she could not be coaxed into returning to slumber and we got up to stay up. I am a bit groggy but the coffee is kicking in and the house is put together and dishes washed so the day presents itself full of things to engage me. Mother has begun a muted conversation with the wall and lights. She greets them like old friends whose smiles and faces are real and dear. Soon they will be replaced by the faces she sees from the window of the car; just as unreal but soothing all the same. Today we will go to town to do some shopping and she will get to create stories of who the other shoppers are and enjoy the bright tail lights on the cars. It is harder to get her to eat not that she does not want to eat but that she does not like bumps, lumps or anything else in her soup. I am getting better at blending and meal planning. Breakfast is liquid and I try, in the other meals, to work in something a bit solid. Some meals are received well and others not. Her body is in such good health that it causes me to forget at times that her mind has set up borders of what she will be willing to eat. I have to tell her to chew and swallow at times. Meals can be stressful, for me more than her, she just does what she wants and somethings that is not good. And we continue to rock gently down the stream we are on enjoying what we can.
New art is coming very well. The trees in bloom are bursting into the blue sky as clouds rise from below them, lifting them even higher. The reflections piece has dried and I am ready to add to it. The introduction of the figure to the work has changed and helped as well as complicated things. The color is almost seductive and I am trying to keep the viewer going to the deeper meaning rather than staying on the surface of the work. The lily pad piece is at an awkward place where the shadows have not blended into the whole, but it seems that they will and it will make the piece exciting. I am getting works ready to go to the gallery so I will be working on that before I can paint today. It is good to see the work go out and the sales supply the resources for the next works. The balance is like that of everything else in life and I am blessed that I get to do that which pleases and brings me such joy.
Hope that you are filled with thanksgiving for all that you have and are doing. That the days are filled with the desire to push beyond where you are and to see and explore the new. That you find joy in seeing your thoughts come to life and exist in tangible form. That you are growing and that which you are growing into is someone you like.
