Fast Moving Storm
March 1, 2016
The wind blew a squall across the house and shook trees and bushes telling that winter is not over yet. Small branches litter the ground and buds still cling to the trees refusing to open till the days are more hospitable. Mother seems unfazed by the pounding on the house and now that she is awake pays no attention to the dance outside the windows. The warm fire and coffee are companions of the moment and all she needs to share her rocking and talking to her self. Last week was the first time we were able to sit outside and enjoy a day of sun till the cool breeze drove us back in. Mother chills easily now and needs more layers of clothing to venture out much. The rides in the car are for her the best way to see the world. Safe and warm in the front seat she can make stories to explain what she sees and what she doesn’t. Confusion over simple tasks causes her frustration and yet she quickly forgets when she sees something or someone. More care has to go into making meals that are easier for her to eat. Soups cannot have any bumps or pieces and we have upgraded the blender so that it will meet her requirements. Any sandwich must have very tender bread and other ingredients and lots of fluids to wash them down with. So much is going on around her that she does not comprehend or notice. We have a cat that comes into the yard making it’s rounds, two deer that treat the yard as their own and everywhere birds hopping and flying through the vegetation. The gold fish continue their swim flashing their golden scales in the sun when we have it.
The art makes headway each day as areas become more alive and hues blend and waltz with each other. The reflections on the water becomes more rhythmic and light sparkles ripples. Stones catch the light and hover beneath the surface like jewels waiting to be gathered for some splendid event. The blossoms are bursting from the dark black trunks of trees and changing a dark somber place to one of jubilant celebration. Other panels have vague patterns that have not formed a recognizable pattern as of yet. There is a feeling of delight as the works are emerging and I am filled with the joy of painting and seeing them come to life.
I have found a caring and sweet person to sit with Mother on Thursdays and give me a break to be out by myself and get some time alone. It has helped me greatly and I can feel the relief to go where I have not been able to go for awhile. It seems to be helping the art as well. I seem to have more energy, too.
Hope you are finding refreshment and a time of rest to renew and grow. That the days that are filled with the promises of coming spring are filling your heart with energy and your mind with beauty. That you are finding that the person you are is one you like and treasure. That as you share yourself with others that everyone grows stronger and happier.
