Morningglowsbrighter in the cool mists that flood the garden area and drift through the silent trees. The brilliant greens of new growth hide, waiting for the sun to strike them with vibrant illumination and show their dazzling color. Mother sits dozing and waking her coffee nearby as a soft melody floats across the room. She was up early and now seems happy to go in and out of sleep. The busyness of the last few days with doctor and dentist visits as well as everything else evaporates in the relaxing of morning made better by good reports and work taken care of. The fire is almost too warm this morning as the chill burns off and the warmth of the day begins to invade the house. The smell of soup drifts here and there as it finishes cooking and will be ready to eat later today.
Yesterday I finished the panels for 4’ X 4’ paintings that I want to start. I had an idea for some water and light works that explore the coolness of night and the soft glow of moonlight. The other paintings are doing well as they define themselves more and more. There is abstraction to the works and yet they retain the anchor of recognition. Skies of a multitude of blues play off the dark branches and warm stones while buds of flowers begin to emerge and coat the trees with a Joseph’s coat of spring. I have started two works that deal with the floor of the forest and patterns that lie beneath the tread of feet.
The crawling of nature from its slumber to its joyful eruption fills the earth around the house. The air has a sweet smell of newness and hope. It is a great time to paint as everything is covered in colors, textures and patterns. It is like I am bonded to earth and add my hues to those around me and am part of the rebirth.
I hope you are finding life filled with vibrant color and joy and your life is bursting forth with beauty and joy. That you are sharing the sweet blooms with those who fill your heart and accompany you on your journey. That you will keep the memories of these precious times to reflect on when days are less beautiful and harder. That you will help other see the wonders around them.
