The daystarted inthedarknessof nightand now pushes into the golden morning. The glow from the fireplace battles with the light falling in from the windows to see which will create the largest luminous pools on the floor. Mother drinks from her cup and looks across the room, eyes unfixed on any one thing and slowly rocks in her chair. Now and again her eyes close and she drifts in a delicate sleep only to awaken and peer around the room before her eyelids shut. She had a fairly quite night and today she is having a difficult time keeping herself from slipping back to that silent time.
Trees outside the window are swelling with buds as the world seems to be waking up. Already some trees in town are in bloom. The air is sweeter and more birds rummage through the garden turning over leaves to find some fresh food. Robins search and prod the earth to reveal some tasty bite for a breakfast treat.
Started a 3’ X 3’ painting of a tree and rocks. The first coat of paint in the sky areas glides over rocks with strange symbols on them while tree limbs decorated with some strange alphabets seem to be both barrier and map. A second panel waits for its sketch to be filled with paint. It also explores strange messages in known forms that define areas and promise knowledge. Both paintings offer part of the familiar and the unknown. Like a place you have been but there have been changes since the last time you visited. It feels good to be painting each day and the rhythms of work sooth and invigorate. Like the outside that is coming back to life after the darkness of winter I can feel myself growing stronger and happier as I paint.
Trust you are getting stronger and happier with all that is going on with you and life. That you have found things that feed your soul and make your heart soar. That you and those who fill your life have peace as you journey together. That you are watching the budding of trees and swelling of flowers and your life is doing the same; beginning to grow and burst out in beauty.
