Silver Adorns the Morning
September 16, 2015
The silver beadsclingto theplants outside the window as a gentle rain falls in the soft grey light. Small shoots of green emerge near the walkway as the water from the last few days awakens the sleeping vegetation and captures the weak luminosity. Mother watches the world around her bounce with the drops from their sky home. She drinks her coffee clutched as though she is afraid someone will grab it from her. This morning she asked if she was going home and who was going to take her. No amount of sharing ever shakes her from the belief that she is not in her own home. Yesterday found her with her Bible, two hairbrushes and ready to go. Lost in her thoughts she tries to make sense of a world she cannot decipher or feel she belongs in. It takes a while, but after talking and revisiting her past she becomes lightly grounded in where she is. Her rides seem to ground her more than anything else even if she does not know where she is or who I am. Maybe it is the process of traveling that speaks to her as going somewhere is more important than being somewhere. I must admit that I no longer know where her mind resides and enjoy the times it bounces next to mine and we have a time of being together. Holding hands as we bump along in the stream carrying us on our journey.
The trees at night blaze with joy and each day they seem to move towards a bright presence. The moonlight sky warms the cool colors and gives a freshness to them. The second work has snow covered trees bathed with light from the moon while the heavens riot with hues of rainbow lights as spirals dance to some unheard music. Another work has golden water lilies that float on a sea of dark water and a bottom filled with rocks and fish. It is a still piece in feel though much action seems to be taking place. The various depths and textures play off the metallic feel of the lily pads. While these works develop, the big figure piece just continues its walk toward resolution not in a hurry like I am at times but reveals itself like a good map showing what the viewer needs to know. Perhaps that is why I am so captivated by it. It takes me to a place but not the end. Like from a book, I read and learn more and enjoy the trip toward what I don’t know. Not with fear but with a time of enjoying the sights and sounds of the world I am traveling through.
I hope you are finding the journey enjoyable and have left the fear of “What if?” behind. If not it clouds all you see and you miss so much joy and peace. No situation is perfect and you can have perfect peace about it if you leave your expectations outside of your journey and simply journey on. Share what you have with those you meet and relax, there is nothing you can do but spoil your enjoyment.
