Night Becomes Day
February 27, 2015
The deepinkinessof the nocturnalworld hasbeenreplacedby thedawn. The sun flashes through venetian blinds of clouds and teases of a sunny day but more likely one of showers. Mother sits in her captain’s chair, coffee in hand, scanning for some familiar land or memory she can latch onto. Her day is already long. Sleep fled from her during the dark hours and she was up so often that since neither of us would sleep, we got up and watched the long embrace of night finally give up to the light in the east. It is with every sense of hope that her eyes scope out the emerging world in front of her. Always seeking but never finding the reality that she only has in fragments in her mind. The basket of her memories’ disorganized fragments accompany her but never resolve into a whole, so she wanders on hoping to find meaning where there is none. The joy of hope never leaves her as though around the next thought she will find all she is seeking. She tells me that she shares with the Lord through prayer and knows he will help her. Her memories of God and music seem to be the strongest left to her now. I am amazed how a song can change her, filling her face with radiant joy, am not sure who is blessed more by that for it lifts my spirit to see it greatly. It is truly a gift for all who see it and feel the warmth it provides.
The new pond painting continues its journey through my mind and brush. The reds and oranges add a visual heat to the cool waters and they create a tension to the placid pool. Am thinking of working on a new painting that has ripples moving across its surface from some unknown source. A disturbance of the ponds quiet reflection that changes or hides some of the form being revealed. I would not use the word troubled waters because troubled has so much baggage attached to it, rather the impact from the outside world that is both natural and common, but nevertheless alters. In order to have sun flashing on water you need to have waves, and it is the waves that add to pattern on the surface of the pond. It is the dual goal of seeing the reflected surface and the depths of the pool in one work that intrigues me. To see both the inner and outer working as one. To see myself in matrix as opposed to isolated and alone; each person influencing and effecting the life of others. Understanding that the benefit to one is the benefit to all. Maybe it is the search for community and the functioning in a sphere with others. No idea what conclusion this train of exploration will take me to, but will enjoy the ride and see what there is to see.
Hope you will find great delight, joy and peace as you explore who you are and how you relate to those around you. Trust you will not let experiences stop you from finding your place and sharing with those you encounter.
Keep strong and remember you are loved and cared for.
Take good care, keep well and enjoy the beauty you encounter.
