The Beauty of Unity
December 6, 2014
Theinkyblacksetwiththelightsof fishing boats and street lights has bled away to reveal a sky filled with dove and putty grey hued clouds floating overhead. The rains are still with us and showers continue to drench already wet earth. The day has been underway for some time. Mother could not be contained by sleep, got up early and complained that it was so dark. Since she cannot understand the nature of time and the symbolism of light and dark all I can respond to her is that the light will come. She sits in her chair waiting for a sun that is a long way off even when it has risen, hidden behind the veil of winter skies. The wait for something to happen consumes her. Always looking for something to engage her mind as she creates the stories of all she sees and imagines. Sometimes the reflections of lights give rise to faces that watch out for her and cheer her; other times they look unapproving of her. She is happy that the vacant chairs at the table join us for our meals and always seem happy. Like a child accepts what it sees around it without being able to put it in context, so Mother views her world as normal that the chairs smile at her or the trees have faces or that women and men are in our trees looking at us. And I have gotten used to supporting her illusions as being nice to have the extra company in this holiday time.
Have started new work exploring the liquid world and multi images both of reflection and solid form as much as liquid can be said to be solid. The fish continue to swim through the compositions adding their own magical illusion to great orbs of golden light that float beneath the surface of the ponds radiating a warm orange yellow glow of diffused luminosity. Shapes, colors, textures and images coexist with peace telling a story of the passage of time in a journal of the visible. The forms are rendered without jagged edges or sharp points to remove the confrontation of defense and encroachment. All parts exist and are present and can live and be together to form an energy that joyfully celebrates life. The pattern is one of tranquility, not just in shape or hue but in spirit. Everything works in one accord as the body works together and is united in purpose and hope. At one time I thought that everything had to be the same and now I think same only means that all the elements function together. The amazing thing is that logic patterns, shapes, textures, hues, energy levels can and do combine and function so well. The surprise is not in their diversity but in their unity.
A blast of light has ripped through the clouds and Mother is soundly spotlighted by the heavenly light. She smiles like when she sees a friendly face. Time has slipped by and I can see her fidget in the chair, a sure sign she wants to take a ride.
Hope you will find all parts of your life fit together and form a wonderful beauty that fills you with joy and peace. That you will not be afraid of the different and will find it a great addition to your heart. Think what makes your soul glad and follow allow it to light your path.
