Movement of Thoughts

A gentle warm breezemeanders through the house this morning as summer peeks in the windows and Mother sits drinking coffee staring into the garden. A small bouquet of flowers from outdoors wafts a fragrance that reaches me as I write. It has been exciting to wander through the garden seeing changes as flowers erupt, flourish, then decay in days of sunshine.
Have been thinking of the new work. The serpent paintings are doing well. The mirror of the gold background makes the circle covered snakes lift from the surface and seem ready to move on their exploration of each other and the world beyond them. The small floral paintings are almost all done. A few stragglers keep wanting more attention and refuse to get done. The ones finished are enjoyable to see their verdant surfaces covered with markings of leaves and lines of colors etched into the paint. Seems I can paint on a smaller scale even if I do tell myself I can’t. I have been working on a 3’ X 3’ tree with a background of stars. The stars are joined with lines (like a map) that go in and around the tree in a 3D manner that create a matrix which leaves the viewer unsure if the tree is in the heavens or not.
It is fun to explore what happens when the world is changed by perspective and placement. A friend gave me some linen to work on. I have a 4’ X 5’ canvas ready to do something with. Will be great fun to explore the surface which is so different than the panels I normally use. Like a new color of paint there is joy in seeing what it can do and how it changes the other colors you use. Always swimming toward the new and seeing what else there is to experience is a fantastic delight. To risk is to live. To go beyond comfort to find something more fulfilling is great because it lets you evaluate what you have.
You don’t have to leave others behind because you take them with you. Life is a journey of friends; sometimes everyone is present and other times only you are present with your faith, hope and God. Art is to communicate so with out others there is nothing to what you make except a private diary that no one else will read or see. If no one else ever sees the diary what are you writing it for? A glorified grocery list? It all comes back to being part of an assemblage of those who are part of your life. Each one adds a special hue, texture or pattern or all three. You have relationship by communicating and sharing your life with them.
Life is much more beautiful when shared with someone than lived alone.
