Sunlight is floodingthe house hitting paintings and setting them on fire with color. Hues that sleep through most of the day glow and sparkle in the early morning light. A joyful chorus of forms breaks out of their frames and dance. It is that way with people. I have watched people come to life when they are given the chance to be seen. They are always there and yet not noticed. Their contributions are so much a part of the whole that recognition escapes them. Many times it is only in their absence that their value is noticed. They need the strong power of bright concentration to reveal the additions that they provide.
In art some, colors are less showy than others in a painting and yet they are very important to make the composition work. As with music, they are many parts and each has its own voice and place in the work. If everyone in the choir sings at the top of their lungs no one hears much that sounds good. To sacrifice so that the whole is more important than the individual parts is hard.
Everyone wants to shine in the culture we live in; and, the truth is, without a willing heart thinking of the greater good, nothing wonderful can be done.
I have seen many artists soar in their art as family and friends have provided the support to let them fly. I know I could not have done or continue to do my work without the help and efforts of others. Art, as it is practiced at this time in our sphere, is one of individual achievement, not group effort. The artist goes into the studio and great things come out. It is a nice story but only a fable. With out the love, effort and care of others the objects could not be made.
The symbiotic nature of creation is everywhere. People bind together to create a change or do a task and some are more identified than others. People work hard yet do not have fame for making their contribution. The apostle Paul talks about how some body parts are hidden and yet without them the other parts could not function as they should. It is easy to see the person holding the paint brush but harder to see the ones who make it possible to make it possible. I have been very fortunate to have family, friends, people of faith, teachers and more who have allowed me to follow my heart with my art. It is wonderful to be believed in, cared about and sacrificed for. My art is not a personal achievement but a combination of many lives and gifts blended together to share. I hope I live up to the investment of so many and can add to the song.
This website is an example of what I mean. With out others who build, edit, refine, provide resources and make suggestions there would be no site. I am grateful for so many who share and contribute to make possible that which would be impossible except for them. What a great life.
Hope your life is filled with people who enrich and bless you. Be sure to thank them.
